Department Of Veterans Affair or your local state will pay a percentage of all the expenses that would be incurred during the burial. The overall expense is not going to be covered, but most normal expenses would be reimbursed.

You can get up to 2,000 dollars for service related deaths. When the person is buried in one of the national cemetery, all or some transportation cost are reimbursed, while non service related deaths can only get 300 dollars. Those who dies in a VA nursing home or hospital can be reimbursed.
