When buying artwork for your home, it is important to note that its presentation will play a key role in determining its value. Should you consider having custom printed photo frames, make sure to go for the most admirable. In any case, you will hang this picture at home or in the office where you will be seeing it often. Moreover, if the frame looks beautiful to you, there are chances that it will be appealing to other people as well. For you to shop the best picture frame, you may need to understand some basics about various components of frames such as discussed below.

You have to decide which frame to select. Either you want the wooden or the metallic one. Wooden frames are more popular since they have an inviting, traditional, and a warmer look. Contrary, metallic frames tend to have contemporary and industrial appearance.

However, for the best framing results, you need to choose the right mat board. Mat board is used to create the space between the glass and the frame. This space improves the value of the photo and gives it an eye-catching view. It is important for the mat board to be put in place by a professional. Otherwise, you carry out this task if you have the skills and right tools for the work. This actually makes it cheaper for you than outsourcing the services.

You have to choose the grade, color and layers of the mat board to be used in your frames. Grade protects your artwork from harmful acidic conditions in the air and from the wall which you have hanged the photo. As a result, your artwork is able to have a long life.

Layers are determined by how many mats you use in a particular frame. This exercise should be carried out by a professional who knows the quantity of layers to put and the amount of space to be left between glass and the frame. When enough space is not left, both glass and the photo stick together. Because of changing weather conditions, the value of the photo placed in such a way is compromised in the long run.

Mats have different shades of colors. These include; silver, rainbow, gold, white and black. If you face challenges in choosing the suitable colors, go for off-white color as boarder which many professionals use. This will make your artwork to have neutral colors which do not distract the eye of the view.

You should also select an appropriate mounting board. This will form the back of the frame where the artwork will be attached to. Most of the people use cardboard as the mounting board. However, this is not recommended since it is very acidic and within a short period of time it makes the artwork look yellowish. The best mounting board has polystyrene core bonded between two papers.

Moreover, you should choose the best glazing material. Glazing is the cover that protects everything in the frame. Failure to do glazing will expose your artwork to unpredictable and harsh temperature and humidity condition which can make the artwork deteriorate quickly than expected. There are four types of glazing, namely; standard, anti-glare, ultraviolet and a mixture of both anti-glare and ultraviolet.
