People are encouraged to share information about themselves on Facebook, for instance by liking pages, using apps, sharing life events or even updating their status. You can then run your ads either on the right hand side of the page, or in the news-feeds, which are in the center of the page. The ads that are run on the right side will go to a larger audience, but as a rule they will have a lower click through rate. The ads that are run in the news feed area in the center of the page, will not have nearly the number of people that will see the ad, but the click through rate will be higher, because the ad is more targeted.

You will get even better results if you create an ad that speaks to your audience. Think of a clever way to draw attention to your ad, for instance with an original picture of your products or with an attention-catching title. Facebook users see ads every time they check their favorite social network and might not notice all the ads they see. You will get better results if your ad stands out and invite the user to click. You could for instance use Facebook ads to promote a special discount or advertise a new product.

For 2014, more and more individuals are becoming aware of the possibilities with Facebook advertising and the fact that the demographics are there, and all a person needs is to learn how to advertise with their system.
