The industry is estimated to be worth more than nine billion US Dollars in the United States alone. The estimations imply that he global industry is very huge. Millions of people work in the industry doing various tasks. The number of people working in this industry varies from one country to another depending on how big the industry is in that country.

There are two categories of vehicle detailing, that is, exterior and interior, which is also known as cabin detail. Specific products and services are suited for each of the categories. The exterior variety of this process deals with cleaning and restoring the external surface of a car. Professionals do this process so well that the surface appears to be in a better condition than that of a new car.

The exterior version of this process deals with cleaning and restoring external parts such as tires, wheels, chrome trim, the body, and windows among exterior parts of the vehicle. There is a wide range of techniques and products used to do this job. The kind of products and techniques used are determined by various factors. Some of these factors include surface condition, preferences of the detailer, and the surface type. Some examples of products used include acid-free degreasers, detail clay, waxes, polishes, detergents, brake fluid, drying towels, and brushes.

On the other hand, interior detailing involves doing a deep cleaning of interior cabin entirely. Most interiors of automobiles are made of various materials including natural fibers, plastics, carbon fiber composites, leather, vinyl, and synthetic carpet upholstery among others. Each material requires different techniques and products to clean. Brushes are commonly used to remove dust. Common cleaning methods used include steam cleaning, vacuuming, and use of foam and liquid chemicals.

One of the processes the detailers do during this process is to wax the vehicle. Waxing is important because it makes the exterior of the vehicle to look shiny and glossy. Besides that, wax also acts as a protective layer for the paint. Thus, regular waxing keeps the automobile looking good and eliminates the need for repainting.

Waxing saves money car owners by eliminating the need for repainting the vehicle, a process that can be very expensive. The vehicle is also returned to a near-new condition. A feeling of satisfaction often accompanies driving a neat and near-new car. Such cars also feel comfortable when one is driving.
