Importance Of Green Wastewater Treatment

By Anna Turner

Very bad odor occurs as a result of waste water that is left unattended to. This has bad effect to the organisms living around and even those present in it. Green wastewater treatment is very useful as it helps in converting the water that was originally a waste into a form that can be used by human being and other organisms. This is a type of environment conservation and it is of benefit to the organisms living around and in it.

The organic matter utilizes the oxygen in the process of decomposition thus making it minimal to the fish and other organisms found below. These organisms are likely to die due to the lack of enough oxygen which is essential in the process of respiration. This shows that waste water is not only threat to human beings abut even to those other organisms living below it.

The organisms living in the surrounding land may find it very hard because of bad smell that comes out. This occurs due to rotting of the organic matter. Its treatment is the only way to do away with bad odor. Contaminating components are very poisonous and dangerous to phytoplankton meaning that it might result in very bad effects to organisms inhibiting in it.

As the treatment begins, screening is performed so as to avoid the bad effects that could occur to apparatus within the treatment plant. If large stones and logs are allowed in, therefore, it helps in removing them and avoids their bad effects. Separating large items avoids the blockage that may be caused to the pipes.

It is very essential to pass it through the grit chamber as it helps in the removal of grit. The speed during this stage should be high to ensure that the organic sediments do not settle. The high speed also prevents aerates from mixing. Some of the plants may skip this stage but it becomes important for quality treatment.

The solution is then allowed to enter sedimentation container in which the components of the sewage are separated. The removal and condensation of the sludge takes place here. The oils soap and the grease are eliminated and are collectively called the scum. Scum and sludge are both put into a processing unit where further treatment takes place.

Calcium and iron are removed by filtering the resultant material through sand debris. The resulting liquid in this stage is clearer than the previous one. Although the water is clear it is not yet fresh for human consumption because it contains bacteria in in it. More filtering can be done to enhance further clarity. Chlorine may be added to eliminate the bacteria.

Chlorine is neutralized by adding another specific chemical. The chemicals added should not make the water harmful once more. The fresh liquid can be allowed to exit to the various places for other uses. In many occasions the resulting water is used for irrigating some dry lands and even drinking, because it is now harmless.
